Broadband speeds vary with the type of modem and service you have. There are many websites that offer broadband speed checks to test your broadband speed to see if you have a problem with your modem or possibly with the isp’s service to your modem. Most sites offer these broadband speed tests for free, so there’s no need to pay anything to have a test done. To run a test, find a free broadband speed test to use.
After you’ve chosen a broadband speed test, read all the information they provide on how the broadband speed tester will work and what the results will look like and what they mean. Most broadband speed tests just ask you to click on a button to start the test. Once it’s started the tester will test your broadband speed for downloading and for uploading speed. It will send an image or data to your computer and then it will upload it back again to test the speed that it’s done by.
When it’s done, it will send you to a page that will show you what the results the broadband connection speed test found. How they show the results and what they show on their report will vary with each test done on each site. Broadband speed tests may ask you what speed your internet should be running at to compare what it is running at. This goes for broadband internet dsl speeds or broadband cable internet speeds as well.
The broadband speed check results should tell you what you’re broadband speed is at for downloading and for uploading. The broadband speed check usually gives you a percentage of what it’s running at. It will say what the normal speed should be at for your broadband high speed internet and then it should say what the broadband speed test showed it to be running at. For example it will say something like “your average broadband high speed internet access should run around 100% to 115%. Your broadband speed is running at 109%.”
It will do the same for the uploading speed. The results of your broadband speed test should also give some recommendations to improve the problem it may have found while running the broadband speed test. It may go into detail on how to fix the problem or it may just say where to go to find the answer to your broadband speed problem.
It would be a good idea to test your broadband speeds every so often to make sure they’re working properly.
